LEARNING TOGETHER; DOING OUR BEST

Mrs. Taylor's Class is a BLAST!

Welcome to our class website. This is a great place to find links to our favorite websites, pictures of the activities we are doing and general information about our classroom. This site is always a work in progress!

Important Reminders . . .

  • Please remember to sign your child's agenda each evening. If there is anything you need to share with me, this is a great place to write it. Just as you check your child's agenda each evening, I check them each morning. This is a great way for us to communicate!
  • If your child is sick or will be missing school, please call the office and let us know!
  • Newsletters will be sent by email and posted on the website. If you do not have email a paper copy will be sent home with your child.
  • Library check-out is every Friday morning. Please help your child remember to bring their library book back to school so they are able to get a new book!

HaPpY NeW YeAr!

Welcome to 2012! I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Christmas break. The students have quickly gotten back into the swing of things and are ready yo face the challenges to come! We are very lucky to have a University of Lehtbridge Intern Teacher in our class from January until the end of April. Miss Jayme Fisher will be responsible for planning and teaching Science, Social Studies, Gym and Art.  Please feel free to pop in and meet Miss Fisher any time.

January was our month to skate in place of gym. Students in grade one made tremendous improvement during the 2 weeks we were at the arena. It is so much fun to watch just how quickly they progress when we skate everyday. A HUGE thank you to parents for sending skates, helmets mitts and coats, for helping to tie skates, for skating with us and for freezing in the stands to cheer the children on. We could not skate without your help and support and it is greatly appreciated. Check back next week for some pictures of our skating adventures!

Check below for a few pictures of us at the Christmas concert . . .

The kids did such a great job singing! They have been singing "Up On The Housetop" for the last 3 days every time there is a bit of a break!

Zippy Books

Zippy books have been coming home for a couple of months and I hope everyone is getting into the habit of reading regularly. Just a few reminders:

- Please print the book title and initial so I know that you have read with your child. If there is no initial I will assume you would like the same books sent home for another evening of practice.

- As students progress through the books, they will become more difficult.

- Even if your child has not read their zippy books, they still need to return them to school each day as they have the opportunity to read with either a student partner each morning or with me.

- If students have not read their zippy books at home, and they have read to me I will exchange them for new books.
