WELCOME to Grade Three with Mrs. Bolt!!
HAPPY FEBRUARY!!

to see what is happening this month!
Our "Sea Creature Reading Club" continues in 2012!! Please have
your child read EACH NIGHT for 18 minutes or more, sign the
Agenda and send it into school the next morning! Our class goal
is 16 days this month, but students are encouraged to read MORE!
Students may read "Sea Creature Books" OR AR books at their
'Just Right'level. Please have your child read out loud to you
at least once each week to check the book level (MORE if you
feel your child needs reading practice to help achieve grade level
reading!).
Many students have missed school days due to illness and
other reasons, especially in Dec. and January. Please
try to send your child to school as much as possible, on time and
ready to learn. If your child has missed any school, please
look for a 'Homework Folder' to come home and help your child
catch up on any work you are able to. Be sure to send it ALL back
the very next day, even if it is not all complete - THANKS! (Lots
of the learning we do is oral and in groups (large and small)
leading up to the next concept and activity and cannot be sent home.)

this month. If you have any questions and/or concerns

Our fifth "Wonderful Wednesday" will be next Wednesday,
February 29, 2012 (please note the change of date from Feb. 15)!
If you are on the February list to help at home, please have
your muffins to the school first thing on Wednesday morning -
THANK YOU! If you are unable to find the recipe, please check
under "Classroom Newsletters and Notes" - recipe to be coming soon!
If you are on the listto help at school, please meet in the
Auditorium kitchen on Tuesday at 2:00 and expect to help
out until 3:30 p.m. Thank you!
Some important reminders:
1. Please remember to check your child's Agenda each day after school for any
"important information" and to sign it daily.
2. Please see that your child has written the title of his/her
"Sea Creature" reading book on the "Reading Calendar"
page and to sign it after your child has read out loud to your for at least 18 minutes
each night! THANK YOU!!! Check the 'reading goal' at the top of each month.
January's reading goal is 16 days for 18 min. each day!
***NEW***Your child has been told that he/she may replace the"Sea Creature" books
with AR books to read at home, as long as the book is written on the calendar
page and is reading each night!!!***
3. Library Book Exchange is on Tuesday mornings and any other day your child
has read an AR book, taken a quiz and is ready to trade. Please help your
child remember to bring his/her books back to school!
Upcoming Events:
1. Family Dance - Feb. 13 from 7- 8:30 p.m. in Tom Karren Gym
2. Valentine’s Day Celebration - We will be having a
Valentine’s Day party on February 14! We will be opening
Valentine’s, playing games, and EATING! If your child is
bringing Valentine’s, please have him/her refer to the
attached class list - remember not to leave anyone out!

4. Winter Walk - February 16, last 30 min. of the school day
5. Feb. 17 - Division-wide PD - No school for students!

8. Book Orders are due this Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012!!
