Please Note:

• Check out our school website at www.magrathelementary.ca. Click on 5-B for homework and reminders particular to our class. I will enter homework assignments and worksheets associated with the assignments so you can better keep track of your child's progress in completing their work.

Jan. 22: Student of the Month Assembly at 12:15 in the Tom Karren Gym. Parents are always welcome.

Jan. 28: Professional Development Day. No school for students.

Reminders

Gym classes the remainder of January will be SKATING. Students need to dress appropriately, including a helmet. The grade five schedule is from 12:45 - 1:45 on the following days: Tues., Jan. 12, Thurs., Jan. 14, Tues., Jan. 19, Thurs., Jan. 21, Mon., Jan. 25, and Tues., Jan. 26. There is one additional time on Friday, Jan. 15: 9:45 - 10:40.

Students have an on-going homework assignment to read for at least 20 minutes at home on school nights. Parents, please indicate the days your child has read by initialing those dates on the monthly calendar in the Agenda (beginning on page 10). Students set their own goals each month in the Accelerated Reading program. They earn points by reading AR books and then taking tests online. If they achieve their monthly point goal, they will be able to attend a Book Party at the end of the month. Those who don't achieve their goal will spend that time catching up on reading.
